Abstract

Rare earth elements (REE) are present in primary granitoid deposits containing rare earth element-bearing minerals such as allanite, titanite, xenotime, apatite, and zircon. Numerous locations in Indonesia contain granitoids, including Wariori and Nimboy in West Papua. Geologically, it is a component of the Wariki Granodiorite. Therefore, research aimed to see the influence of rare earth elements on petrogenesis in granitoids. In this study, petrography, petrology, XRF, and ICP-OES were used as research methods. Syenogranite, Monzogranite, and Granodiorite are granitoid rocks in the study area, as indicated by petrography and geochemistry. The negative correlation amongAl2O3, Fe2O3 , K2O, MgO, MnO, CaO, TiO2, and P2O5 and SiO2 reflects fractional crystallization during magmatic differentiation as well as the reduction of apatite and mafic minerals. The research area is comprised of S-type granite with a tectonic setting of Volcanic Arc Granite and Syn-collision Granite. In terms of rare earth elements, there are three different patterns in the Wariori region and two differences in the Nimboy region, so it can be concluded that the granitoids in the study area originate from different sources. The correlation between granitoids and rare earth elements, specifically P2O5 and total REE, is positive, whereas the correlation between SiO2 and total REE is ambiguous. This indicates a rise in REE-containing phosphate.
