PERULANGAN GEMPA BERDASARKAN SIFAT SUSEPTIBILITAS MAGNETIK DAN RGB ENDAPAN TURBIDIT: Studi Kasus Endapan Turbidit Dari Dasar Laut Barat Pulau Sumatera

Abstract


Peneliti Indonesia dan Amerika melakukan penelitian pada palung yang terdapat pada sebelah barat pulau Sumatera setelah gempa dan tsunami Aceh Desember 2004 yang telah menelan korban lebih dari 200 ribu orang. Sebanyak 105 conto ”core” lumpur dasar laut telah diambil dengan berbagai macam diantaranya Gravity core dan, Piston core. Deskripsi beberapa conto
endapan telah dilakukan yang terdiri dari siklus lumpur sampai pada pasir kasar. Siklus ini disebut sebagai siklus pengendapan arus turbidit. Disamping deskripsi juga dilakukan pengukuran suseptibilitas magnet pada setiap conto endapan. Dari hasil pengukuran suseptibilitas magnet terlihat korelasi yang baik dengan hasil deskripsi dan RGB.
